Michael Sergakis | Youth & Young Adult Director
Michael Sergakis is the Youth and Young Adult Director here at Saint Sophia!
Michael was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT, where he attended Prophet Elias and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Churches. He attended the University of Utah for three years before transfering to Hellenic College where he graduated in 2013 before obtaining his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2016.
While at the University of Utah Michael also worked as a teacher at a local day school and summer camp called The Winner School. Since his transfer to Hellenic College he has been involved in various Orthodox Summer Camps including Camp Emmanuel - the Denver Metropolis camp, Ionian Village - an American summer camp in Greece, Camp Saint Paul - the Direct Archdiocesan District camp, and MBC - the camp of the Metropolis of Boston.
In addition to serving at metropolis summer camps Michael has helped to plan and run several Lenten retreats and parish summer camps at the parish of Kimisis tis Theotokou in Southampton, NY.
Michael has been tasked with developing a youth and young adult ministry that is based upon the motto of Worship, Witness, Fellowship and Service. Our vision is to provide everything that we can to help build and fortify a strong foundation of faith in our youth that will sustain them in their young adult life and beyond.
The mission and goal of our Youth Ministries is to help our young faithful to experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith by developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and by becoming active sacramental members of the living Church. This will help to equip our youth with the tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation.
